I purchased this machine to replace an older Bowflex Extreme. I can say for sure that this gives a better workout than my previous Bowflex machine. The resistance is much better, and I found myself reaching muscle fatigue much quicker on this machine.
The older machine could handle up to 410lbs, but I don’t think I will need that much. I may add the extra 100 lbs. but it’s truly not needed in my case. If you decide to add the extra weight, the easiest time to do that is before you build the machine. I ordered the curl bar from Bowflex (the only place to get that particular bar) and will probably add a few other accessories.
The one thing I wish they had was a rack to store the leg attachment as it will see little use, but it is a nice option nonetheless. I love not having to go to a gym and waiting in lines. Do you know what the hardest machine is at the gym? The front door! This eliminates the excuses and allows you to do this on any schedule.

Great product. I’m 35 and have two daughters under 2. Caring for them takes a lot of time out of my schedule, so the hour and a half gym visits ended a couple of years back. I purchased this machine a couple of months ago. When I first got it, I hated it. You can’t work out with it as though it’s a bench and free weights.
I ended up changing my routines up and started loving it. I rarely do sets of less than 21 reps now. I also don’t track the amount of weight that I’m doing since there’s no real correlation between the numbers on the bows and pounds. I also slowed my reps down and concentrate the force.
It feels more like calisthenics than weight lifting. Anyhow, I’ve been losing weight and toning up again, seeing results that I never realized while lifting conventional weights, etc. I definitely recommend this product.
