Power rod resistance system

The Bowflex Xceed Power rod resistance system is a great way to get in shape. You must use the right amount of weight or resistance when working out, and if you don’t, you might not be getting the most out of your workout.

It comes with a resistance of 210 lbs. However, when you buy more power rods, you may upgrade the resistance to 310 lb or 410 lb.

The typical 210 pounds of rods are divided as:

  • 2 50lbs, (22.6 kg)
  • 2 30lbs, (13.6 kg)
  • 4 10lbs, (4.5 kg)
  • 2 5lbs, (2.26 kg)

It’s important to note that the resistance will increase as you go up; for example, when you upgrade to the higher sets, the extra resistance comes as pairs of’ 50s’.

Very good home machine. Let’s get something out of the way now. This is not supposed to be like free weights. That said, it’s a great little machine if you upgrade to 410lbs.

I am a fairly big guy and can deadlift and squat over 500lbs. Is this true weight, of course not. It’s tension resistance from bending a material. It is going to be progressive.

This works out in a home gym’s favor, as it is the lightest at the weakest part of a movement. Eliminating the need for a spotter or anything of the sort. I can lift by myself, and I can push myself.

Are you going to be maxing out your movements, no… Don’t think you will be, plain and simple. 410lbs of resistance on this is probably closer to 275lbs.

A lot of it depends on the range of motion you get, the more the rod bends, the more resistance you will get.

What customers dislike

I found the Bowflex Home Gym challenging to begin a workout routine. The requirement to connect and disconnect things for the different workouts takes some time to learn. I think Bowflex should provide some online videos on a quick start exercise routine. Assembly was not quick, it took over 2 hours to fully assemble.
